Pamper Yourself at Home with these Natural Hair Care Treatments

You have probably heard of some wacky natural hair care remedies you can make at home…flat beer to volumize? Mayonnaise to soften hair? Experimenting with home hair treatments is fun and makes you feel like a scientist mixing up concoctions. Here are the top hair recipes that nourish and bring life back to your tresses, while transforming your bathroom in to a relaxing home spa:

Banana Coconut & Molasses Hair Mask- (For dry hair restoration) Mix or purée ½ cup molasses, ½ banana, and a few drops of coconut oil for hair. Slather each strand with this rich mixture and wait 20 to 30 minutes. Shampoo, rinse, and voila! Hair is instantly softer, bouncier, and damage is less noticeable. Apply treatment once weekly or as needed.

Dazzling Champagne Hair Rinse- Got a little champagne left over from a holiday party? Don’t dump it- Flat champagne is the secret to shiny, frizz-free hair. Simply rinse your hair with ½ cup champagne and ½ cup hot water before shampooing. Beer works too, but champagne is much more glamorous. For blondes, this luxurious hair rinse brings out warm, shimmering tones. Use as needed for extra volume and oomph!

Nourishing Olive Oil and Honey Hair Treatment- Honey is a rich emollient that locks in moisture while olive oil is the key to great hair. For this treatment, set aside 20 minutes, and mix ½ cup honey with 2 tbsp. olive oil. Shampoo and rinse as usual. Works great for African American hair and naturally curly hair. Use weekly or as needed.

Anti-Dandruff Oil Treatment-For many people, winter brings dry hair and embarrassing dandruff. To fight back and prevent dandruff from reoccurring, mix ½ cup of olive oil with a few drop of tea tree oil and coat scalp and ends of hair. Leave on for 15 minutes, shampoo and rinse as normal. Apply treatment every other week.
